A while ago, I told you guys about how much I love coconuts and everything coconut related. Well, that includes coconut oil. I’ve never cooked with coconut oil, but I use it in my hair and my son’s hair and occasionally will use it as a moisturizer as well.
I was given some goPure Fractionated Coconut Carrier Oil and Massage Oil in exchange for a review and that’s why I’m here. I’ll just cut to the chase. It was aight. The biggest thing that draws me to coconut oil is the smell. I LOVE the smell of coconut oil and this coconut oil was odorless. I was a little disappointed, to be honest. I was really hoping to have the benefit of coconut oil in an easy to use liquid state without anything being sacrificed.
That was the other thing I noticed. This coconut oil was ALWAYS in liquid state. If you have any familiarity with coconut oil, you know that it goes from liquid to solid very easily. If it gets too cold in your home, it will easily become solid and in the summer, chances are it will always be liquid. But, because this coconut oil was “fractionated” I guess some chemical process allowed it to stay in liquid form all the time. I will admit, that made it easier to use in my son’s hair and to mix with lotion as a moisturizer but I also felt like I was using too much of it because it just pooooooooured out the bottle.
For $26, I felt like this product is WAY too expensive. It’s currently on sale for $15 but per Amazon, the regular price is $26. For $15, I could get a giant jug of organic coconut oil good for cooking, hair AND as a moisturizer that would last twice or maybe three times as long as this one bottle.
On another note, I visited the website for this company today (http://www.gopurenaturals.com) only to find that the website is halfway set up with default filler text in place where “Customer Reviews” are supposed to be. I don’t know how I feel about that. A little unprofessional, I’d say.
Pros: Always liquid; easy to manipulate and mix
Con: Fragrance free, lacking that coconut smell; easy to use too much of it due to being liquid; poor website set up; price.
On a scale of 0 to 5, I’d rank it at about 2.5 stars. It has potential but I’m not a huge fan.
